Day 19 Cairns-Singapore via Batam Island, Indo

 Boxing day

So last night I was having a bit of a snooze as it was my off watch.  Around 18:00 I got a call on the internal phone system, one of the boys telling me to come down to the saloon for Christmas dinner.  Well you will see from the photo it was a bit of a feast!  The salmon didn't get cooked on Christmas eve as planned as it was a bit too rough.

Honey glazed salmon as well baked salmon was the treat of the day along with green beans, roast potatoes with a chocolate cake for desert all washed down with a couple of shots of Estonian vodka!  What a feast.

We had a bit of a water leaking onto the saloon table from the ceiling today.  It's actually the second time it's happened.  We finally tracked it to a small crack in the fibreglass on the upper flybridge lounge deck area.  It only happens when it rains hard and we have a slight port list due to wind on the beam or fuel tank in-balance.  It took us dismantling half the saloon ceiling and 2hrs of tracking to finally figure it out.  Easy fix - tape over the crack - job done!

Most of you who read this know but for those who don't tomorrow, 27th, is my 65th birthday - WHOOP WHOOP!  And according to the New Zealand Government I can officially retire and get the state pension, OMG!  It was only last month I was 12yrs old.  Unfortunately birthday celebration will have to wait till we get back to land.

The other thing to happen tomorrow is we should be crossing the equator from the southern to the northern hemisphere later in the day so a double celebration.  This will be my 3rd time crossing with a 4th to come in May when I will be delivering the catamaran I took across the Atlantic last month.  I will be returning to her and taking her through the Panama Canal and onward to Hiva Oa in French Polynesia.

Busy Busy Busy.............
